Open Water

Open Water

Training for Open Water Swimming occurs mostly in the summer, however, there are some cold water enthusiasts who enjoy swimming (or sometimes just a dip) during the winter months!

For those who want to compete, the main event is the Varsity Open Water Competition against Cambridge, which takes place every summer. Every second year (falling on odd years: 2023, 2025, …), 6 swimmers also form a relay to race a team from Cambridge across the English Channel. Even if you aren’t keen to compete, and would prefer just to work on your skills and enjoy some summer outdoor swimming, we would still love to have you along!
